What is L-O-V-E?

Project L-O-V-E is a collaboration between ORBF and The Boon Initiatives. L-O-V-E focuses on deep, compassionate and comprehensive care  widows, single mothers and disability-afflicted families.  We provide a full spectrum of support; from nutrition, to legal, to education, to health, to professional development. Our aim is to uplift these families and ensure a better future for their children.

L-O-V-E aims to provide

1) L-iving Standard:  To make sure no one goes hungry. ORBF provides each family that needs it a bag of rations (Basic staples for a month) and some fresh fruits /vegetables / milk / eggs. It is just not fair that we have so much excess and there are people struggling to eat one healthy meal a day. We provide them with access to medical care. We would like to build up a team of doctors who are willing to help us – we are currently working with the DOW Class of 2000.

.2) O-pportunity: Find what skill sets the mother or father (in disabled families) have, and try to work out a way for them to be self sufficient – if not completely, at least partially.  The Boon Initiatives works to create income generating opportunities for these families. Non-profit self-sustaning businesses such as afterthesun.life  are providing training and home based work.

3) V-isibility and Voice: Make sure each family member has an ID card, birth certificate and B form. 55% of  women in Pakistan have no form of ID. Without ID, they can’t register their children, who in turn can’t go to schools nor can they receive patient welfare of hospitals. In cases of domestic abuse and divorce, they find themselves unrecognised, and without support.  KAS Access-to-Justice (A Boon Initiative) works with each family to ensure that every member is a Visible and recognised member of society. We provide free legal help, from UC and Nadra documentation, to assistance in the case of domestic abuse and custody, to inheritance and property issues.

4)E-ducation:  We work with each individual family to find the most practical options for schooling in their neighbourhood. We  coordinate with educational NGOs when we can, and the local schools in each area and provide additional support with  books, uniforms, and scholarships on a case-by-case basis.

Each family comes to us through a reference and we personally investigate and verify their details. It is made clear that we will only commit to support the family for a year and then reassess them. It will be essential that the family works with us and puts in their best effort to better their lives.

PLEASE HELP US  NURTURE THE L-O-V-E FAMILIES TO A BETTER, BRIGHTER AND STRONGER TOMORROW.
